Bowling Green Recreation was built and opened in 1940 for 22 thousand dollars. Detroit was booming at the time and this was one of many projects going on. There was also a Bowling Green Bar that featured live entertainment. I am not sure of the connection as it was a different address but it was probably the same owner. By 1951, it was operating under new management. Eventually the alley was closed and was demolished in the later 1980's. It is now an empty lot.
