Please note that location entries may feature older photos or post card views that may not represent the current appearance, features, addresses, phone numbers, or contact names of the attraction. This site is intended to be a historical as well as current record of various attractions but it is not always possible to have up-to-date information due to the vast number of locations featured here. We ask you consult the propietor for current information.
The earliest mention I found regarding this resort was from 1938 but it existed before that. It started life as a lumber camp. At one point this place was 22,000 acres and at various times had the following attractions:
Given the size of the place and the activities it offered, it was quite a financial undertaking to run. As a result, the fortunes of the resort went up and down over the years, changing hands several times and even being auctioned off after a bankruptcy in 1984. And yet, in the late 1980's and early 1990's, investors were restoring and re-opening some of the attractions, albeit on a more modest scale.
As of 2022, some of the old place still stands such as some of the cabins, the lodge (now a bed and breakfast), the Celibeth House, and Antique Store to name a few. Definitely worth checking out. It looks like from the earlier aerial photographs there was an airstrip west of the main road. Seems to be gone now but the imprint of the runway can still be seen. I am using the address of Bear Creek Resort which sits in Blaney Park as of 2024.
