Shiawassee County: Joshua Purdy became the first settler here in Perry Township in 1836. William Morrice, for whom the village was named, came in 1837, followed by his brothers, John, George, and Alexander, in 1838. the Morrices were natives Of Aberdeenshire, Scotland. A station on the Grand Trunk Railroad. Charles Tyler became its first postmaster on May 14, 1877, the year the villa was platted and recorded by Isaac Gale. Incorporated as a village in 1884.
