From Michigan Place Names
Shiawassee County: John and Matilda Judd obtained 400 acres here in Hazelton Township in 1853 (their descendants still own 100 acres of it). In 1854, they cleared the land, built a log house and a log school in which their daughter Jane was the first teacher. Given a post office as Judd's Corners on June 20, 1879, with blacksmith Eri D. Babcock as its first postmaster. The office was closed on Sept. 30, 1902, but the village of Juddville remains [Mrs. Vera Judd Jacobs; pen Phil Oct 1955]
