This was a favorite club of mine growing up in Southfield. There were tons of bands that played here in the 70's and 80's. It was very near 24 Carat Club which was just across Telegraph so it was easy to hit them both, even walk between them as parking was tight. The address traces to the collision shop building that sits on the site now. That building looks small to me for a club but it is probably the place.
I remember seeing Johnny Thunders here who was the guitarist for the New York Dolls. My buddy "Cool Chris" (noted sound engineer in the Detroit music scene who I grew up with) was his road manager. He recorded a live record here ("Silverbird" - 1980). I also played here in one of the bands I was in called The Rox. There were several bands with that name. Chris was also the vocalist in that band. I remember quitting the band at a gig here because the promoter admitted he couldn't pay us LOL. I walked home to Southfield as my bandmates had driven me there. Quite funny.
The following are just a few of the bands who played here: Flirt, Dead Boys, Destroy all Monsters (feat. Ron Ashton of the Stooges on guitar), Sonic's Rendezvous Band (Fred "Sonic" Smith of MC5), Wayne Kramer (also MC5), RUR. I am sure Bittersweet Alley, Mugsy, Almighty Strut and others played here too. It was part of the circuit all the bands played.
