Update 5/26/2025: I found a vintage aerial of the place from 1983. Looking back further on the address in the newspaper archives, there was once a brick house on the lot in the 1960s. Back then that area was sort of in the middle of nowhere.
The Main Event was a disco that opened around 1976 although this building was probably used for other things over the years. The sign was sitting on the lot at 10472 until about 2015 or so. Ned Gracin was the general manager during the 70's. Later on the club featured live entertainment after it switched to a rock format around 1977/1978.
Zooster, Mugsy and many other popular Detroit bands played here. Hell, Nugent and Salem Witchcraft appeared here and they were pretty big at the time. I wish I had checked it out back then. This place was once directly across the street from the old Lakes Drive-In in Brighton. Both are now gone. The bar burned down in 1998 and the drive-in closed in 1989. The theater sit around for several years until it was wiped out to create an ice arena.
