This is the first time online that I've seen ye olde VDyke movie theater! And am surprised that it closed as early as during my StCyrilHS years 1954-7. A main memory of mine is having often walked round-trip with my Mom between Montlieu and there near Harper while she collected the extensive set of china dishware they gifted to their patrons. One of its surviving pieces still serves as my salad-bowl. Also, my nostalgic Netflix name is VanDyke Viewer.

I remember going to see The Mummy starring Boris Karloff in the early 50's with my cousins. Within minutes of the opening scenes I was out the front door. I learned years later, that my Dad had the same experience when the movie came out in the 1930's. Tho a small theater, it was in a vibrant location at Van Dyke & Harper in those days.

I remember my mother use to pack my brother and I a lunch and we would go to the VanDyke Theatre on a Saturday and spend 9 cents each and watch 3 movies. Hoping it wasn't raining because we had to pick up are feet so they wouldn't get soaked from all of the leaks in the building. Sure missed those times
