This theater goes back to the early 1900's. I found it on an old map of Baraga from 1914. The ads I have are from 1917 and 1936. I checked a historical aerial photograph from 1951 and it appears it was gone by then. The lot it sat on is now empty. The address I am using is the modern day address of the lot. It may have been 24 Keweenaw back when it was open.
This assumes the Bijou/Baraga was the same theater with a name change occurring somewhere along the way. That was quite common back then as owners changed frequently. If I find out they were indeed distinct houses I will create another entry.
