There was an Opera house in Croswell located across the street from the Maxine Theatre. (Howard Avenue) It was built in 1880 and torn down in 1932. It was a three story wood building. It was host to several traveling vaudeville shows, basketball games, and high school graduations. Ironically enough, the late Maxine Theatre stole the popularity from the Opera House, causing its destruction. The Croswell Post Office and an alley occupy the lot now.
