Movie Theaters >> Cub Theatre

Address: 7714 Lake St.
City: Bear Lake State: MI Zip: Phone:
County: Manistee
Notes:

I would estimate this house goes back to at least the 1940's given the architecture even though others have it opening in 1955. From what I can gather, it opened and closed again over the years before turning to porn in the 70's.

Supposedly it was remodeled and re-opened after that as a "legit" house but I am not seeing any ads related to that. There is a building that still stands at the location that could be the old theater with some drastic updates. The following is a link to a YouTube video about the theater.

5/21/2015 - John McDowell
I was asked to help check out this location for a potential buyer (NOT the XXX operator) probably about 1972. It's hard for me to believe that anyone could make it workable after what I saw. The screen end had been flooded, being right by the lake, and the floors were moldy and slippery. The projection booth was a wreck. I seen to remember that the equipment was rusty from all the humidity in the building. I had seen enough. I told the man to forget it.
