This theater goes back to the late 1940's at least and ran up until the 1970's including a stint as a porn theater. In 1955, Alex Perry (the owner), originally planned on building a drive-in in that community.
I was in Spalding in 2003 and the old Midway was sitting empty at that time. Like an idiot, I didn't note the address and it has taken some detective work to figure out exactly where it was. The old Canon digital camera I had back then didn't have any GPS built in. I would get back home and go through hundreds of photos trying to remember where the hell I was when I took them.
Ultimately, I zoomed in and enhanced the ONE photo I had and picked up some clues. Extensive viewing of vintage aerials and current street views reveals the theater was demolished some time after 2015. A Dollar General now sits on the site. I am using the address of the Dollar General to indicate where this place was for now.
