General Information:

From Mike Hewitt on Facebook:

The Waterford Hotel was an early and long-standing lodging and stagecoach stop located in Waterford Village, at the intersection of Dixie Highway (originally the Saginaw Trail) and Andersonville Road. For over 60 years, the hotel served as a stagecoach stop, providing meals and lodging to travelers along the trail through Waterford Village — an important waypoint before the advent of widespread railroad and automobile travel.

Fire & Rebuild: On December 31, 1890, the Waterford Exchange Hotel suffered a fire that caused the death of a local resident due to smoke inhalation. The structure was repaired and reopened afterward. Later Years & Fate: After decades of operation, the hotel ceased business and was demolished in 1970 after having been closed for some years.
