There has been a motel on this lot since the 40's. By 1968, the Village Inn was built (replacing the original motel) complete with the A-Frame entrance the Econo Lodge had until the end. Bobby Thompson ran the Village Inn Pub (formerly Tommy's Sports Lounge) on the 2nd floor of the motel. Andy Olipra was the owner of the motel itself.
By the 1985 the place became part of the Comfort Inn chain. In the 1990's it changed to an Econo Lodge and the upper restaurant was called "The Attic Grille & Bar". They had regular dance contests at the time. Through the early 2000's I read many newspaper reports of crime at the motel culminating in a demand by the city to close the place in 2019.
After that, there was a fire and an agreement to raze the building in 2020. A very similar story I have seen over and over. There appears to be a remnant of the old place still standing which was the Pancake House. I believe it was affiliated with the motel as the exterior motif was similar. It is currently closed as of 2025 however.
