Midway Motor Lodge was a chain of motels that appeared on the scene in the 1980's, at least in Michigan. I think they go back further in other states. I haven't found much on the history of the company. There were also other motels using the "Midway" moniker so it makes it difficult to determine if those were part of the chain. I have found 3 Michigan locations so far:
The structures looked very similar and the centerpiece was a very nice pool with a domed glass atrium above it. These locations were pretty short-lived, at least as motels. It wasn't for lack of trying as the chain ran 100's of ads over the years all over the state, even in areas where there weren't locations. They also featured Hoffman House Restaurants. I get the sense the chain was aiming at a more upscale clientele, perhaps the immense competition against larger chains was too much for them.
The upshot was they were all closed by the early aughts. The Warren location is now Windmere Park, a senior living center, and the original structure remains largely intact. The Lansing location became a Days Inn, was demolished, and a Hilton Gardens now sits on the lot. The Grand Rapids location was demolished to make way for a Hyundai dealership.
