The Town House opened in 1960 prior to I-196 (Gerald Ford Freeway) was put in. Within a few years the freeway was built right over the head of this motel to the south. I am not sure what effect that had on business but the noise probably didn't help. By the late 60's reports of crimes in around the place from the newspaper archives showed up.
The city ended up with it by 1976 and it became social housing and eventually a halfway house for probationers. That initiative didn't work out too well and eventually the place fell into disrepair and was demolished by 1993. The lot sits empty as of 2025. One cool thing is a Black Angus Restaurant opened here in 1968.
