Former Vacation Spot Of Al Capone

One of the few examples of Spanish Colonial Revival-style commercial buildings in Niles, this four story, limestone trimmed, redbrick hotel first opened in 1926 and was considered a premier hotel. Located on the site of the Pike House hostelry, it was designed by Chicago architect Charles W. Nicol and its name was chosen to recall the four nations that at one time or another asserted sovereignty over the area-France, Great Britain, Spain and the United States. Legendary gangster Al Capone, who used to vacation in the area, is reputed to have stayed here. The hotel is open daily and tours may be arranged with advance requests.
