Update Jan 31 2024: From Justin K - This portion of Stimson later became part of MLK Blvd, the Google Street View shows the building was demolished between June and October of 2011. Today it is a parking lot.
This motel goes back to the 1950's or before. The map on the postcard indicates the motel was on Stimson between 2nd and 3rd. Today, Stimson ends at Cass Ave so it doesn't go that far. The historical aerial reveals it did go through at one point. Even allowing for that, I am not seeing it on the aerial photo from then or now.
I know you're not going to believe this, but this motel became known for being the setting for criminal activity starting in the 1960's and continuing into the 1980's (sarcasm mode turned off). Let's just say the rooms were 14 bucks for a very short term rental. The place was granted a reprieve in 1983 when nuns took over. I am not sure what happened after that but I assume the place is gone.
