This 40-unit hotel started out in 1949 at the cost of $380,000 with help from the local community in terms of financing. By 1955, a 10 unit motel was added to the property. The famed architect Alden B. Dow submitted a proposal for the motel addition, but his design was not the one eventually built. A rendering can be seen below. The motel changed hands in 1968 when 2 Alma men took over, Ben Simon and Alfred Fortino.
The place is mentioned 100's of times in the newspaper archives. It hosted thousands of events, some of those related to Central Michigan University which was just down the street. Sometime between 1999 and 2009, both the motel and hotel were closed and torn down. A medical office, parking lot and Qdoba sit where the hotel was as of 2023.
