This old motel goes back to the 1950's. I don't have the actual name it operated under. Even after magnifying the sign in the photo I can't make it out. It took me several hours to locate this place but I was surprised to see the building still stands on M-21. The lot is now being used by General Rental but their office is in fact the old motel building. The roof line is unmistakable.
The structure in the 1970 photo next to the motel was razed. That may have been the motel owners quarters or a restaurant. I am not sure when this motel closed but it was probably decades ago. I will find the proper name eventually. Some possibilities from the old yearbook ads are Pete's Bar Restaurant and Motel, Vans Motel, and Cahoon's Motel and Grocery.
