I spotted an empty lot with the outline of old driveway while checking aerial views on US-41 and I was happy to find another vintage motel. The last review on Google for the Quartz Mountain Inn was from 2009 and it was good. It looked pretty nice and it also had a miniature train out front. I found nothing in the newspaper archives on it. I found an old matchbook for Siesta Grande Motel in which the phone number on it tied back to Quartz Mountain Inn.
I would estimate it goes back to the 60's but there is no historical aerial photo from that period. The entire site was demolished sometime after 2011. It is now an empty lot. Here is a blurb from Michigan.org: "20 rooms, five apartments, and efficiency units. Free hot buffet-style breakfast, air conditioning, pets allowed. Restaurants nearby. Snowmobile trail access."
