This 7 unit motel has quite a history for being a modest little place in Alanson. It was not on the 1953 aerial but was there by 1981 so I would say it was built in the 1960's. The owners were (not necessarily in chronological order): Edward Mikulich, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Andrews, Ken Bakewell, Bette Waldron (Manager in the early 80's) and Robert Rochester who registered the Country House name in the 90's.
It was put up for sale in the late 70's, early 80's and 1990's before it was closed in the mid 1990's. The real estate ad is the only photo I have other than the 1981 aerial. There was a "going out of business" auction scheduled in 1984 that was later cancelled so maybe someone bought it then. It was offering apartments early on and later was known as "Country House" apartments toward the end. By 1993, Littlefield Twp cited the property for blight and the motel was eventually demolished. The lot sits mostly empty as of 2023.
