This motel opened in June 1965. It was run by Ken and Val Knight back in the early days. Also, James and Joanne Sanders bought it in 1972. By the 1980's, Dorothy Wright had taken over. In 2002, a Kalamazoo man accidentally shot himself in the buttocks, initially claiming a robber did it at the motel. Probably out of embarrassment. Eventually the business name was changed to Manistee Crossing Family Resort. The structure still stands as of 2023 but it doesn't appear to be operating as a motel.
