This was located just to the west of the southbound exit 282. (Bigby Coffee sits on the location.). In the late 70’s and early 80’s it was called The Chalet Haus. It had hotel rooms as shown in your photos and it also had apartment style rooms separate from main hotel but shared the same parking lot. The three apartment buildings still stand and appear well maintained on Google Earth. As a child we stayed there every New Years Eve from 1977 to 1983 or so. Hope this helps.
The Chalet Motor Lodge probably goes back to the 1960's. It operated for many years then was converted to a Best Western. There is a Best Western operating on M-32 in Gaylord as of 2022. That motel was a Holiday Inn Express for many years prior to that. So, is the current Best Western the site of the old Chalet Motor Lodge? I don't know. I am not seeing a structure that looks like the old Chalet. I will figure it out eventually.
