This is an old drive-in theatre on Eidson Road (not a typo), set about 500 feet from the Greensvill-Dayton turnpike (Rout 49) just south of Greenville and the county fairgrounds. The Speedway Auto Theatre opened in 1946 with a 400 car capacity. The name comes from the fact Greenville Speedway sat on the adjacent lot. Speedway and Road Race History says: "The 1/2 mile banked dirt oval track opened on the 4th of July 1930, It operated through to 1942 when it closed due to World War 2, After the war the track reopened on the 3rd of August 1947, Later closing again in 1948. The track was again reopened on the 17th of June 1951, operating only until 1952."
