I lived two blocks (streets) on Harding from the Ecorse DI. My mom and dad would load my 4 brothers and I into then, a '62 Ford Falcon station wagon and stop either at Peppy's or the 'party store' for goodies to munch on. As I got older, I had a friend who lived adjacent to the DI the street that ran along the Ecorse in the back area and we'd sneak under the fence.
As a young boy we would ride our bikes up to Peppy's and get food the fish sandwich was awesome. We we're 11,12 or 13 and watch all the high school guys and girls cruise the 360 of Peppy's. Wonder how many of those guys we lost to Vietnam? I also remember the Standard and Sinclair gas stations down the street from the Ecorse and recall when they built the first Burger King, McDonald's and Taco Bell on Campbell street. And you can't forget Little Skipper's on Mayfair! Yea the Ecorse Drive-In many good memories on that landmark.
