The American Bandstand Grill was an idea that Dick Clark had in the 1990's, starting out in Florida. A few outlets opened up later on, one of which was at Great Lakes Crossing in late 1999 or early 2000. It seemed like a Hard Rock Cafe/Planet Hollywood idea, which was sort of in vogue back then. The reviews in the newspapers were middling, 2 out of 4 stars was a common one.
Dick Clark was well liked and the Rock and Roll decor was pretty cool so that factored in to it. It was said the St Louis ribs were quite good. Although there are a couple of these still open in other parts of the country, the Auburn Hills location closed and has now been converted to a Japanese Steak house.
