This restaurant operated since the 1960's (or before) in Paris until it was closed in the early 2000's. It has since been razed and as of 2024 only the fireplace and sign remains. It was once operated by Mr. & Mrs. Heinz Difflipp and later Nellie & William Griffith in the earlier days.
Aug 2012 Big Rapids News:
PARIS — If you’ve heard rumors that the Brown Bungalow restaurant has been sold, you’re right. But if you’ve heard rumors that the restaurant will be reopening, don’t hold your breath. In late March, John Switzer closed on the purchase of the Brown Bungalow and adjoining property for an undisclosed amount.
Switzer, the owner of Switzer Sand and Gravel in Green Township, said he has no plans for the property at this time. However, he did say that “the gravel (underneath the restaurant) is worth more than the building.”
“I’ve got plenty of gravel in my pit, so I don’t need the gravel (under the Brown Bungalow),” Switzer said. “We haven’t made up our minds about what we’re going to do with it yet. ... I have no plans at this point to demolish it.”
The Brown Bungalow is located at 20410 Northland Drive, about a mile and a half south of Switzer’s gravel operations. The building has been empty since 2007.
