Rex's was a classic drive-in restaurant operated by Rex and Loretta "Susie" Turner back in the early 1960's. It is now operating as Ashley's Take-Out which has fantastic reviews. A photo can be seen below. To answer Connie's question, Pizza Johns was operated by John Rumney.
From Connie Plucienik:
This drive-in started as Don's Drive-in, owned by Don Hyatt, in 1954 (?) and was located on M-40 South (now M-51 South) not on W. Division St. It then became Pizza John's around 1957-58 (note in the picture the sign says John's on the right side. The sign was never changed.) I haven't determined who John was as yet. It then became Rex's Drive-in, owned by Rex Turner, around 1959. Finally it became Ray's Drive-in owned by Ray Robbins from around 1971 til 1975. Note: The approximate dates are from Dowagiac City Directories and my recollections having grown up during that time.
