The Shipping Channel was right on the water and had enough slips for 32 boats. It also had banquet facility. It was run by Bobby Moore, a flamboyant figure who owned many restaurants and businesses. He even owned elephants which performed in the Shrine Circus. By 1987, the name changed to Brownies on the Bay which I assume is the same folks who owned the renowned Brownie's on the Lake which I will be covering with its own page.
Eventually the restaurant closed and was demolished. There are lakefront homes sitting on that lot as of 2022. You would never know the restaurant existed. As for Mr. Moore, he was accused of burning down his steak house (different location than this one) in 1997 but was later cleared of that charge in 1998. The hunt for a good photo of this place continues. I am using the address this place had when it was open but it doesn't really exist anymore. This is the proper Google Map link.
