The Canopy opened in the 1920's and closed in 1989. It had a very good run as an upscale restaurant in Brighton and was loved by the surrounding community. It was built in what was known as the Leith Block near the old Lincoln Hotel. It had 4 dining rooms. It featured velvet and leather decor. The Canopy was also a stop for celebrities visiting the area such as Shirley McClaine, Robert Goulet, and local celebs like Sonny Elliot.
Eventually the restaurant closed and the building sat dormant for a few years. It was eventually renovated and became the home of Preview Properties as of 2022.
