The Encore goes back to the late 1950's or early 1960's and was run by Ernie Pisula, who passed away in 1995. The building was where Buddy's Pizza sits as of 2024. The long canopy over the driveway can be seen on the 1964 aerial. This place went up long before that area got really built up, so it was kind of in the middle of nowhere back then. It was gone by the mid to late 1980's.
I hope to find a higher quality postcard or photo of the place because it had a great mid-mod design. There were also some other restaurants in the Detroit Metro Area using the Encore name but I am not sure if they were affiliated with this location. You can see from the old menu you could get prime rib for 4 bucks back then. Can't do that now!!!
