This unique car wash could be considered an example of Googie Architecture of a sort, pretty rare for these parts. There was tons of it in the Western states but not so much in Michigan. The place was built in the 1960's and looked it. It was a local landmark for decades in the Detroit Metro area. Pontiac Motors (RIP) liked it so much they shot a TV commercial inside the place in 1987. You can see the unique windows in the background of the screen shots below.
By 1999, it was owned by Najy Jaboro. By May 2002, the Jax Car Wash Co. bought the place and gutted it. That may have been then when the unique roof ornamentation and signage disappeared. Jax eventually closed the place for good. It was sold and demolished entirely to make way for a CVS. I am using the address of the CVS for reference because the old address of 3322 N Woodward no longer exists.
