Entry Date: 9/2/2010 - cuckoo429: I grew up on Miracle Drive. We used to sit in my backyard and watch the movies. I remember sneaking in through the holes in the fences after cutting through the fields.

Entry Date: 9/2/2010 - John: I also forgot to mention that the building is now a Secretary of State Branch office. I think also a doctor''s office too in the back, but not sure.

Entry Date: 8/31/2010 - wayne lancaster: Owned by my grandfather. When a kid, we used to go every week with parents-free popcorn and run of the theater. It was vandalized after renovations in the 60s and closed never to open again.

Entry Date: 8/31/2010 - DENNIS AND LINDA JANOWIAK:  GAMBLERS RACE STARTS AT 6 ON FRIDAY NIGHT. ANY QUESTION GIVE US A CALL 986-989-658-8132 OR 586-612-2568. WE ARE GIVING AWAY $1500.00 SATURDAY AND SUNDAY (LABOR DAY WEEK-END)

Entry Date: 8/31/2010 - John: I recall back in the 80s and 90s growing up this was the place to be. There were two bowling lanes in the building- one called Circle Lanes and the other called Midland Lanes. There was also a pretty decent arcade too. I remember wasting quarters on the Top Gun arcade they had. Off to the one side was the Rotunda Lounge, and behind in back was the Style Shoppe- I remember going there once or twice as a youngster to get a haircut. Off to the other side facing Ashman St was the Circle Quality Shoes store. I vividly remember the controversy and talk about town in November 1998 when it was announced that the owners were selling the building and land to Rite Aid. Rite Aid (like any corporation) didn''t even want to save it, instead opting to demolish it and build an ugly big-box store.

Entry Date: 8/31/2010 - John: I believe this theater actually closed around 1993 or 1994 as I vividly recall seeing the movie "Dennis the Menace" there when I was in the 7th grade.

Entry Date: 8/30/2010 - Jim Fahlstedt: This egg shaped half mile horse track was made of mostly used foundry sand. It always stuck together quite well and was a challenging track to drive. We had some great times there running the midgets for a variety of sanctioning groups over the years. The guys who ran really good there included John Tenney, Jim Hines, Russ Jacobson, Don and Rich Vogler, and Dave Dilbone.

We ran up there one year during a driving rain storm. The stands were packed and the promoter (fair board) was afraid of a riot if we did not race. They scraped to mud off the track between heats. The feature was supposed to be barn-stormed (fake race, put on a good show, be safe) and purse was evenly split. As soon as the green fell, the guys were all racing hard. It was a safe show, though and we had a great time.

Entry Date: 8/30/2010 - Earl Reeves: I went to Atlas theater for many years . For a long time, the admission price was 12 cents for children and 40 cents for adults. They changed their movies a lot and always had a GREAT choice for all ages. I went so often that the owner used to wave me through without paying about half the time. The lines during the matinees were usually as long, just as pictured. The folks that owned and ran the place were business like but always NICE to me. Thanks - Earl

Entry Date: 8/29/2010 - Norm: I remember my father took me there August 4, 1977 to see a movie I hadn''t heard of - STAR WARS!

Entry Date: 8/29/2010 - Norm: This theater was a bar in 1987 called Shout. It was trendy and very busy. My brother was a bouncer there on weekends. They were the first bar in the US to have midget tossing!

Entry Date: 8/28/2010 - jane: I still have my piggy bank from there, lol! Remember it well.....

Entry Date: 8/27/2010 - RaC: The strip has been shutdown due a driver getting killed there. Is Deer Hunting season still on here in Michigan? How many hunters die during that short season ?? How many die on our roadways every year?? Dumb reason but I have checkked this track out myself. The gaurdrail stops but there are still a few post sticking just past that. End of the track could use some improvement. Yes limiting the ET for vehicles racing there would help. Our High School Students are limited to 12 sec ET. It''s better than some back county road.

Entry Date: 8/27/2010 - kevin w : i remember that storm i was 7 years old i will never forget that green sky as long as i live and that marquee at the escorse drive in saying now showing gone with the wind lol . even to this day its weird seeing that shopping center there instead of the drive in

Entry Date: 8/27/2010 - Larry Avery: Was there the night that while the MC5 were playing " The Motor City''s Burning" ...The place started on fire. (under the stage)...Still a great night....I think!

Entry Date: 8/27/2010 - Tom Porzondek: To Bob Krupa; I looked at the pics of the #44 (Carl Scholtz), #16 (Jim Laraway), and if memory serves me correctly, the #25 may have been Neil Priest. I think that he was one of the guys along with Lyle Robarge and cannot remember the third guy who were involved in the "pool incident" with the security guard in 1966.

Entry Date: 8/27/2010 - Terry Bogusz Jr.: On facebook now: Mt. Clemens Race Track, join the group!!!!

Entry Date: 8/27/2010 - thomas sabol jr:  i can remember as a little boy running around the theater as crews would set up for concerts that my father and bobby bageris (uncle bobby) promoted from middle 60''s to early 70''s until bamboo productions and the rock groups they promoted outgrew the venue and moved onto cobo hall and other venues. my favorite story is of alice cooper and how bamboo productions helped by promoting and having him play in the eastown. the eastown was the cornerstone that allowed rockbands and bamboo productions to go on to grow into succesful business and most of all it was responsible for providing the start of a childhood of financial comfort and pride a boy loved to have knowing his father had a job most kids envied. thanks eastown!!!!

Entry Date: 8/26/2010 - Jim Laraway: Robert Krupa

The photo of Carl Shultz, The orange 16 is Jim Laraway, can''t help you on the 25.

Entry Date: 8/26/2010 - JerryD: I attended both the Booth and Midtown Theatres in the early 50"s, both theatres were very clean and well maintained, expecially for neighborhood 2nd run theatres. I"m sure the Booth was named after the Booth apartment building located across Jefferson Ave. a very upscale apartment building. If not maybe the apartments were named after the Theatre. I met Edmund''s older brother Milton a couple of times in the late 60"s and early 70''s. at that time he was Pressident of NATO, (National Ass. Michigan Theatres), he was awell like and respected gentelman. JerryD

Entry Date: 8/26/2010 - r general: I am 78 and started to visit Edge water Park in about 1940. I remember the roller coaster when my cousin and I went up the ramp for the first big drop and there was a power failure and we were near to the top and had to exit and walk down the very narrow ram ,at night no less ,to the starting point. That was a real thrill that i will never forget. We went quite often to the park and probably experienced our first french fried potatoes there. It was a real fun experience that we enjoyed over the years even taking my prospective long time partner of 59 years there in 1949.

Entry Date: 8/26/2010 - LAURA TUCKER: I have been to alot of those car shows in Mt. Clemens on Wednesday nights. Always fun running into old faces like Carl Scholz. Carl is having the 24th annual Scholz Autofest on September 26, 2010 with over 1800 vehicles.

Entry Date: 8/24/2010 - Bob Laird: There were 3 theaters that I went to on the weekend in the late 1940''s. "48-49"

The Time: Saturday early matinee- 9 cents for 2 and somtimes 3, older B movies , 1 short subject (3 Stooges), 1 serial and several cartoons. (Sunday 12 cents)

The Lakewood: Saturday late matinee -15 cents for 2, older B movies ,1 short subject
ie; Joe Mc Dokes- Behind the Eight Ball and several cartoons. (Sunday 20 cents)

The Cinderella: Sunday matinee-25 cents for 1 first run movie , ie; Sands of Iwo Jima , 1 older B movie , 1 short subject and several cartoons.

Simple math= 49 to 57 cents for a weekends worth of entertainment
We made our money by hauling groceries in our wagons from the A & P for older folks. A standard tip was 10-15 cents per trip. We had to line up like cab drivers and wait your turn.
Hope this stirs a lot of good memories

Entry Date: 8/24/2010 - David Murray: I was a child of the 60''s and grew up on Coyle between Eaton & Lnydon. I also remember the Peeny''s Movie Parade, down Grand River. I aslo enjoyed buying candy at Sam & Georges next to the theatre before seeing a movie. Those3 were the days.

Entry Date: 8/22/2010 - Michael Bolan: I am positive that the photo of the Clawson Theatre at 14 Mile Rd. near Main St. is genuine. I went there as a child living about ten blocks away to see the Three Stooges.

Entry Date: 8/22/2010 - Rick: i went there often as a kid in the late 50s the air conditioning was so cold i took a light jacket with me. 3 movies 15 cents.

Entry Date: 8/22/2010 - Rick: i was there as a kid in the early 60s when it was the grand circus i returned after it became the Detroit opera house as the grand circus the main lobby was blocked off and i was shocked to see what a beautiful place it really was.

Entry Date: 8/22/2010 - Rick: the interior pictures aren''t right it didn''t have a balcony. i was there several times when it was called the temple. i lived in the neighborhood and went with my mom weekly on free dishes night.
